THE CLUB TODAY Situated on an island in the middle of Loch Lomond in Scotland, the club is unique in Britain in being surrounded by the country's largest expanse of freshwater. Despite the Loch Lomond area being a major tourist attraction as a renowned place of scenic beauty, the club's site offers peaceful seclusion.The island is one of the largest on Loch Lomond being almost three miles long with a breadth of approximately three quarters of a mile at the widest point. Much of the island is covered with mature natural woodland and teems with wildlife. There is a wide variety of bird life and semi tame pheasant roam the club grounds. Deer are occasionally spotted on the island having swum across from neighbouring islands, which are maintained as nature reserves.The island is also farmed for raising cattle and the island's owners operate a fully licensed hotel, which is open seasonally from April to September. Bar lunches and evening meals are available at the hotel at reasonable prices.
